You work the anvil yourself. Not a demonstration to watch — steel that is yours, drawn out under your own hammer, and a blade you take home at the end of it.
On the range

Bows and arrows made the same way as the steel, and open ground to shoot across. Time enough to learn the draw properly rather than in ten minutes.
After dark
Camping
Nights under open sky in the Sierra Nevada. Fire, food, and far enough from a road that the sky is worth looking at.
